The Importance of Breakfast for Children
Why do Champions eat breakfast?

The word breakfast is in fact two words, ‘break’ and ‘fast’, referring to the end of fasting since last night’s meal. As your child sleeps, his body goes into survival mode—his metabolism slows down and doesn’t speed back up until he eats again. Chances are, he would be starved even before mid-morning. Eating breakfast ensures that he’s full enough to last him till school break.

If breakfast is consumed, his metabolism rate speeds up to burn stored fat for energy. It prevents him from being starved and overeating at his next meal. Many studies in both adults and children have shown that breakfast eaters tend to weigh less than those who skip breakfast.
It is also proven that children who eat a good breakfast perform better in school, pay more attention, are more creative, think better and score higher on tests. Increased blood sugar levels also help decrease behavioral problems to ensure that your child feels less tired and is in a better mood to learn and play.
Breakfast contributes key nutrients toward a well-balanced diet, not always available in later meals and snacks—such as calcium and other essential vitamins and minerals. It is best to choose foods that are rich in whole grains, fiber and protein while low in added sugar as opposed to an oily breakfast! Unfortunately, due to hectic lifestyles, parents often find it taxing to prepare breakfast in the morning.
